Leading Off:
Kansas defeats Omaha- The Jayhawks continued their perfect start to the season in comeback fashion against Omaha on Thursday evening. Kansas entered the 9th inning trailing by two before a game-tying shot from Chase Diggins sent the crowd in Lawrence into a frenzy, and what a crowd it was for the KU home opener. Their excitement was not short-lived as four batters later Dariel Osoria belted a grand slam on to I-29 to give Kansas a 12-8 victory in front of their largest home opening crowd in school history.
UC San Diego upsets Cincy- In a low-scoring but game of momentum and lead changes, UC San Diego utilized a ninth inning rally to walk off the #23 ranked Bearcats on Thursday night. Garrett Davison drove in the winning runs for the Tritons on his double scoring Emiliano Gonzalez and Delshaun Lanier. The Tritons are now 3-1 in one-run games this season.
Washington State outscores Iowa- The Cougars began the year with a tough schedule, netting them 0 wins through their first 8 contests in 2025. Washington State picked up their first victory of the young season in Cleburne, TX against the Hawkeyes, winning 12-7 on Thursday. The Cougars scored runs in five of their eight trips to the plate, including five runs in the sixth. Max Hartman stole headlines as he finished the night with four RBI’s on as many hits, crossing the plate twice.
Meat of the Order:
Tennessee vs Oklahoma State (Houston, TX)
Some stiffer competition in Houston may give us indication as to how good Tennessee can be as reigning national champions
Oklahoma State has shown flashes and can explode offensively
Miami vs Florida
Blake Cyr in a Gator uniform after spending his freshman and sophomore seasons at Miami only fuels an extra edge to this great rivalry
South Carolina vs Clemson
Arguably the best rivalry in college baseball with the Gamecocks playing excellent baseball early while the Tigers have national championship aspirations and a consensus top-15 ranking
Vanderbilt vs UCLA
Vanderbilt and UCLA are two programs rich in historical success and pageantry, though have been labeled as falling up shy of expectations the last two seasons. Both have shown signs of turning the corner early in 2025
Southern Miss vs TCU
Two ranked teams who may need this series to remain ranked. Major regional hosting implications with a series like the one in Fort Worth this weekend
Baylor vs Oregon State (Arlington, TX)
The Bears have been surging on the mound and have shown signs of excellence offensively
Oregon State has the talent and experience to beat anyone in the country, though struggled in Round Rock last weekend
Arizona vs Texas A&M (Houston, TX)
The Wildcats stumbled in Arlington to begin the year while the Aggies, with their #1 ranking, have stumbled as of late. The winner will feel better about themselves in a tough multi team event
Auburn vs Ohio State (Arlington, TX)
The Tigers are sizzling hot to start the season while Justin Haire’s Buckeyes have played enough quality innings to win several games, though can credit just one win to struggling in games late
LSU vs Kansas State (Frisco, TX)
Kansas State dazzled in Arlington after stumbling out of the gate in 2025. K-State will aim to keep momentum rolling against a strong LSU team headlined by more arms than an octopus
7-8-9:
Under the radar games today
Penn State vs Richmond
Washington vs Texas
Minnesota vs Arizona State
Dallas Baptist vs Oral Roberts
Illinois vs Texas Tech
Fresno State vs UCSB
Omaha vs Kansas
Liberty vs UNCW
