Troy comes into the 2025 season with high hopes, as one of the best Mid-Major teams in the country. This weekend Troy opened up the season with Bellarmine. Troy came into the series and dominated, sweeping the Knights in all three games. Winning game one 23-6, and games two and three with a score of 7-3.
Game One: vs Bellarmine
In game one of the 2025 season, the Trojans showed explosiveness with the bats. Putting up a massive 23 runs in only seven innings of work. Scoring 9 in the fifth and 5 in the sixth innings. Freshman Houston Markham went 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs in his debut and hit his first collegiate home run during the game. The Wallace-Dothan Community College transfer Sean Darnell went 3 for 3 with a team-best 5 RBIs, hitting his first career home run in the fourth, he also followed that one with a grand slam in the fifth. The pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts and 2 walks in the game. Luke Lyon recorded the win for the Trojans, pitching 2 innings, striking out 4 and walking only one.
Game Two: vs Bellarmine
Troy picked up another one on Saturday as they defeated Bellarmine 7-3. Noah Edders started on the bump, going 6 innings, with six strikeouts and no walks. The right-hander allowed two hits and one earned run, earning him a win. The Trojan offense could not catch a spark until the sixth inning scoring 3 and then scoring another 3 in the seventh inning. Mike Bello led the way driving in three of the Trojan's seven runs. The main issue for the Trojans on Saturday was not getting the big hit, as they ended up leaving 14 on base during the game. The pitching staff showed up in game two again, as they only allowed five hits total on two earned runs, while striking out 13 at the same time.
Game Three: vs Bellarmine
On Sunday, the Trojans were going for the clean sweep, and were able to do so, as they beat Bellarmine again 7-3. Shane Lewis was the leader today as he went 3 for 4 with a double, two solo home runs and two RBIs. Another name who led the Troy offense was Blake Cavill, who went 2 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs. On the mound, Auburn transfer Drew Nelson led the way in his first start, pitching four innings, struck out three, giving up six hits, and three runs. The bullpen was the real difference maker, holding Bellarmine scoreless for the final five innings. Grayson Stewart, Grady Gorgen, and Colby Frieda, all coming in relief, racking up six strikeouts with one walk, and allowing only one hit in the final five. Troy finished off the sweep against Bellarmine and it should not be the only one this season.

Troy will head up the road to the Plains to take on the Auburn Tigers on Tuesday night, in what should be a fun one with a lot of state bragging rights on the line. This weekend Troy will be back home against a team out of the Southland Conference, Northwestern State, in a three-game set.
